SETTLEMENT - COMMONS AREA - DAYThe five girls are standing in a group at the end of a longtable, around which a group of middle-aged women, withcrosses around their necks, sit, drinking tea. John Casorstands behind and away from the girls. The older women around the table are petrified, catatonic.They appear dead; zombie-like. The girls wait a moment for some sign of life from theolder women. Then they regard each other, shrug theirshoulders, and walk off. |
